​Located 45km from Perth, the Forsyths Mill Mountain Bike Track is a single track mountain bike trail. It is maintained by Department of Parks and Wildlife, providing a great place for both professionals and beginners.

​The National Trust invites you to explore the great outdoors on Perths doorstep, and learn about CY O’Connor’s pipeline at the same time. Ride, cycle or walk the 75km Kep Track, or sections of it, from Mundaring Weir to Northam.

​Walk or cycle 3km around the Lake perimeter to view a range of native trees like marri and wandoo, together with an abundance of bird life including ducks, geese, herons and swamp hens.

Starting from Sculpture Park in Mundaring, the Munda Biddi Trail stretches over 1000 kilometres to Albany on the south coast of Western Australia. There are purpose-built campsites along the Trail to accommodate cyclists.

​Located one hour from Perth, Paruna Wildlife Sanctuary is open for bushwalking from April to October. Paruna is one of a number of sanctuaries managed by the Australian Wildlife Conservancy (AWC)  for the protection of native wildlife and their habitats.

This popular walking, cycling and horse riding trail begins its journey at Bellevue, forming a unique 41 km loop at Mount Helena, before extending to Wooroloo Reserve.

​The Weir View Walk is a 1.2km loop trail that starts and ends at the Perth Hills Discovery Centre. Walkers will journey to a viewing platform overlooking the Mundaring Weir. This is a pleasant and scenic 20-30 minute walk.

​The John Forrest National Park was established as an A Class Reserve in 1898 and the park is home to two waterfalls that flow in winter and spring – Hovea and National Park Falls.

​Located on 168 hectares of nature reserve, Lake Leschenaultia is the perfect spot for a family day out in the Perth Hills. The Lake offers canoeing, swimming, walk and cycle trails, as well as picnic, BBQ and camping facilities.

​The North Ledge picnic spot overlooks Helena Valley and the famous Mundaring Weir. There are picnic tables set amongst lovely Wandoo trees. There are also many flowers around the granite rocks in spring.

The Golden View Lookout is a small quiet picnic area located south of the Mundaring Weir, providing amazing panoramic views over Lake CY O’Connor, the Mundaring Weir and the Helena River Valley.

​The Mundaring and Hills Historical Society (MHHS) has operated the Mundaring District Museum since 1997. It is co-located with the Mundaring Visitor Centre in the old Mundaring School building.

A new 12km mountain bike trail network is open at Lake Leschenaultia, including 9 trails spanning 540m to 1.9km and ranging in difficulty from basic to intermediate. The trails have been carefully designed to consider dieback mitigation, avoid native fauna habitats and to leave a minimal trail tread footprint.

On 17 August 1914, just 12 days after war was declared, the first volunteers arrived at the newly formed Blackboy Hill training camp located in Greenmount. This was the birthplace of the Australian Imperial Force (AIF) in WA and over 32,000 men passed through the camp before heading off to war.

​Swan View Tunnel, located in John Forrest National Park, was built in 1895 and is the earliest railway tunnel in West Australian’s history.  Charles Yelverton O’Connor designed the 340m Swan View Tunnel to overcome a granite barrier formed by a fold in the Darling Range.

In the 1890s prospectors made a dash for gold in Coolgardie,. However, in the dusty, dry and searing heat another precious commodity proved even more elusive – water!
