About Mundaring

The region of Mundaring is best known as the Heart of the Perth Hills. It offers amazing trails, spectacular State forest, arts, history and culture – all within a 40-minute drive from the Perth city.  If you are looking for things to do in the Perth Hills, then Mundaring is a great place to start.

Mundaring is one of 11 distinct villages within the Shire of Mundaring, a local government which covers an area of 644sqkm of which one-third is State Forest.

Other villages include Darlington, Glen Forrest, Mahogany Creek, Stoneville, Parkerville, Mount Helena, Sawyers Valley, Chidlow, Wooroloo and Helena Valley, included  here is a  downloadable copy of our local maps - Swan Valley to Mundaring and Mundaring to Avon Valley.

The villages are steeped in a rich history, closely linked by the old railway line that is now the fabulous Railway Reserves Heritage Trail stretching some 59kms through the shire. The amazing engineering feat that is the Mundaring Weir with the water pipeline to the Eastern Goldfields region is also here.
