Walk and Cycle

​Western Australia's world class long-distance walk trail the Bibbulmun Track stretches almost 1000km. Passing through the Mundaring Weir precinct, the Track continues on to Albany through some of the most beautiful and varied natural areas of Australia's South West.

Rent electric or standard bikes from Camp Leschenaultia in Chidlow and ride the trails at Lake Leschenaultia or try the Railway Reserves Heritage Trail, which links the villages throughout the shire of Mundaring.

​Starting at the Perth Hills Discovery Centre, enjoy a 4.7km walk through picturesque jarrah forest where native wildflowers abound in spring. The trail Includes a lookout with a magnificent view over Mundaring Weir. A section of this trail coincides with the Bibbulmun Track.

​Eagle View Walk Trail is a 15km loop trail located within John Forrest National Park, the oldest national park in Western Australia. The trail is a bushwalker's delight, covering a variety of relatively pristine habitats.

​Follow My Ride is a website dedicated to cycling the rail trails of the South West of WA. It covers many rail trails in the Mundaring area, including the Railway Reserves Heritage Trail, the KEP Track and the Munda Biddi Trail.

​Located 11km east of Mundaring, Forsyth's Mill is a roadside picnic area set among white-barked wandoo forest.

​Located 45km from Perth, the Forsyths Mill Mountain Bike Track is a single track mountain bike trail. It is maintained by Department of Parks and Wildlife, providing a great place for both professionals and beginners.

​The National Trust invites you to explore the great outdoors on Perths doorstep, and learn about CY O'Connor's pipeline at the same time. Ride, cycle or walk the 75km Kep Track, or sections of it, from Mundaring Weir to Northam.

​Walk or cycle 3km around the Lake perimeter to view a range of nature trees like marri and wandoo, together with an abundance of bird life including ducks, geese, herons and swamp hens.

Lake Leschenaultia Trails

​The Munda Biddi Trail, meaning 'path through the forest' in the local Noongar Aboriginal language, is a world-class off-road cycling experience. The Trail traverses Western Australia's Darling Range and Southern Forests through Eucalypt bushland, granite outcrops and unique wetlands – South-West WA is recognised as a global biodiversity hotspot, you will discover plants and wildlife found nowhere else. There are few places in the world where a 1000km trail could be built through an undeveloped natural corridor.

​Located one hour from Perth, Paruna Wildlife Sanctuary is open for bushwalking from April to October. Paruna is one of a number of sanctuaries managed by the Australian Wildlife Conservancy (AWC)  for the protection of native wildlife and their habitats.

​Railway Reserves Heritage Trail retraces 59km of the old Eastern Railway that formerly linked Fremantle to York in the late 1880s. This popular walking, cycling and horse riding trail begins its journey at Bellevue, forming a unique 41km loop at Mount Helena, before extending to Wooroloo Reserve.

​Within the Greenmount National Park, the Goat Farm is located on Department of Parks and Wildlife managed land. This is the only purpose built mountain bike park in Western Australia. It has several downhill tracks and is a great place to improve your mountain bike skills. There are toilets, drinking water and car parking. Entry is free.

​The Weir View Walk is a 1.2km loop trail that starts and ends at the Perth Hills Discovery Centre. Walkers will journey to a viewing platform overlooking the Mundaring Weir. This is a pleasant and scenic 20-30 minute walk.
